1. What cookies are

Cookies and similar technologies are small pieces of data stored on or accessed from your device when you use a website or digital service. They can help a site stay secure, remember your session, and support core service features.

2. Cookies and similar technologies we currently use

  • Strictly necessary cookies: these support core website and account functions such as sign-in, session continuity, security controls, and protection against misuse.
  • Preference-related storage: where relevant, we may store settings that keep the experience consistent, such as interface or account-related choices.
  • Payment and embedded service cookies: when you use checkout or a third-party service integrated into the platform, that provider may place its own cookies or similar technologies in line with its own policies.

3. Our current position on analytics and advertising cookies

Based on the current platform build, we are not relying on a public site marketing or advertising cookie stack. We also do not currently present the public site as an analytics-heavy tracking service.

If we introduce optional analytics, advertising, or similar non-essential technologies in future, we will update this policy and request consent where UK law requires it.

4. Consent and cookie choices

Under PECR and the UK GDPR, non-essential cookies generally require consent. If optional cookies are introduced, we will provide a clear choice mechanism and will not bundle that choice into unrelated terms.

Where consent is required, rejecting optional cookies should be as straightforward as accepting them, and you must be able to change your choice later.

5. How to manage cookies

You can usually control cookies through your browser settings, such as deleting existing cookies, blocking future cookies, or choosing whether the browser should accept cookies at all.

Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the service may stop working properly, including sign-in, secure sessions, checkout-related functionality, or account actions.

6. Session cookies and persistent cookies

Some cookies are session-based and expire when you close the browser. Others may remain for a longer period so the site can recognise your settings or session state across visits.

Where we or our providers use persistent cookies, they should only remain for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which they were set.

7. Third-party services

Some third-party providers used through the platform may place their own cookies or similar technologies. This can happen, for example, when you interact with payment tools or other embedded service features.

Those providers act under their own policies and notices, so you should also review the relevant third-party documentation where it applies.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time so that it reflects changes to the platform, legal requirements, or the technologies we use.

If you have questions about this policy, contact Africonnect Exchange CIC at info@africonnect-exchange.org.
