These Terms of Use govern your use of AfriConnect Exchange. By visiting the site, creating an account, or using any part of the service, you agree to these terms.
AfriConnect Exchange is a product of Africonnect Exchange CIC, a Community Interest Company registered in Scotland. The platform is designed to support marketplace activity, free-item claims, barter opportunities, and related community exchange features.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- You must provide accurate and up-to-date information when creating or maintaining an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens through your account unless you report unauthorised access promptly.
- You must only use the platform where you can lawfully enter into the relevant arrangement or transaction.
- We may ask you to complete additional verification, security, or profile steps before you can use certain features.
3. Acceptable use
You must use the platform lawfully, respectfully, and in a way that does not harm the service, other users, or the communities the platform is intended to support.

- Listings must be accurate, lawful, and not misleading. Images, descriptions, prices, and fulfilment details should reflect the item or service being offered.
- If you publish a listing, you confirm that you have the right to offer the goods or services described and that the listing does not infringe another person's rights.
- If you offer free listings or accept barter, you remain responsible for honouring the listing terms you publish and for communicating clearly with other users.
- Buyers, claimants, and counterparties are responsible for reviewing listings carefully and using reasonable judgement before entering a transaction or arrangement.
5. Payments, fees, and providers
Where paid transactions are enabled, payments are processed by third party providers such as Stripe. We do not store full card details on our own systems.
Prices, fees, and charges shown in the service should be read alongside the listing details and any checkout information presented at the time of purchase.
- You are responsible for providing accurate checkout and delivery details.
- Refunds, reversals, and cancellations may depend on listing terms, fulfilment status, payment provider rules, platform policies, and applicable law.
- Seller onboarding, settlements, and related financial tooling may be subject to additional provider verification requirements.
6. Moderation and enforcement
We may review, restrict, remove, suspend, or refuse content, accounts, listings, or transactions where we reasonably believe this is necessary to protect users, enforce our rules, comply with law, investigate fraud, or respond to platform abuse.
Serious breaches may be escalated to payment providers, professional advisers, or public authorities where appropriate.
7. User content and intellectual property
You keep ownership of content you submit to the platform, but you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and display that content as needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the service.
Our branding, software, site structure, and original platform materials remain owned by Africonnect Exchange CIC or its licensors unless stated otherwise.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the platform available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, improve, pause, or withdraw features where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons.
9. Liability and legal rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in these terms affects rights you may have under consumer law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses arising from user-generated content, third-party services, off-platform interactions, or decisions you make based on content or listings posted by others.
10. Suspension, closure, and termination
You can stop using the platform at any time. We may suspend or close access to all or part of the service if you breach these terms, create material risk to other users, misuse the service, or where we are required to do so by law or regulation.
